CANCER:

Despite extensive research & the development of new treatments & drugs, the U.S. mortality rate from cancer has not changed during the past several decades (nor has that of worldwide cancer – in fact it is on the increase). Yet there are promising nutritional ways of avoiding & even beating cancer. There is more & more research coming out “for” & “some against” antioxidants & micronutrients in the prevention & treatment of cancers as well as other diseases. Micro-nutrients, vitamins, minerals & anti-oxidants can enhance the beneficial effects of conventional cancer treatment – decreasing their side effects, improve their long term prognosis & reduce the risk of the “cancer returning”. Oxidation & free radical damage are the primary means through which radiation & chemotherapy drugs slow cancer. “As cancer cells in a tumour become malignant, they exhibit incredible genetic diversity – like an entire ecosystem. This is where there is some strong research that suggest  that anti-oxidants can do more harm than good  – as malignant tumours in final stages of growth can be so strongly oxidizing – that they can trigger their own cell death by apoptosis” extracts from Dr Watson J. Why then do tumours not disappear on their own once they reach this stage – this is usually when the patient dies…..

There is plenty of research showing the link between acidic pH & cancer. Cancer thrives in an acidic environment, & doesn’t survive in a normal, more alkaline environment. Cancer cells make your body even more acidic as they produce lactic acid. So if you have cancer, your pH levels are low & your body is too acidic.

The majority of the foods & drinks we consume are acidic, such as meat, grains (brown rice being one of the most acidic) & sugar, with colas & other soft drinks being highly acidic. So unless you have been eating a very healthy diet, full of fresh fruit & vegetables from the entire colour spectrum, your body is way too acidic, creating a very good environment for cancer to thrive in. Healthy cells are alkaline – cancerous cells are acidic. The blood, lymph & cerebral spinal fluid in the human body are designed to be slightly alkaline at a pH of 7.4. At a pH above 7.4 cancer cells become dormant & at 8.5 cancer cells will die while healthy cells will live. Acidic conditions inhibit nerve action, whereas alkalinity stimulates nerve action in the cells. Some cells may adapt to an acidic environment & instead of dying as normal cells do, they survive by becoming abnormal – malignant cells. Malignant cells do not correspond with brain function nor with our DNA memory code – they grow indefinitely & without order. THIS IS CANCER.
Our body pH is very important because pH controls the speed of our body’s biochemical reactions, by controlling the speed of enzyme activity as well as the speed that electricity moves through our body. The more alkaline the body – the more electrical resistance the blood has.

Part of any successful cancer treatment includes chelation & detoxification of heavy metals & other toxic chemicals, which we are exposed to knowingly or unknowingly on a daily basis. It is literally raining mercury, uranium contamination is increasing, lead is even more toxic than we ever believed (and is now even hyper-accumulating in plants & trees. Lead is even in the bread we eat, & high levels of arsenic in the chicken, plus yearly “mercury laden FLU SHOTS & dental fillings” or even chlorine breathed in while showering. Detoxification & chelation will be more efficient under alkaline conditions.

In Dr Otto Warburg’s book “The Metabolism of Tumors” – he stated that the cause of cancer was the replacement of oxygen in the respiratory cell chemistry – with the fermentation of sugar. The growth of cancer cells is initiated by a fermentation process – which can ONLY be triggered in the absence of O2 at the cell level. This is the classic picture of an acidic body. Just like the overworked muscle cells manufacture lactic acid by-products as waste – cancerous cells spill lactic acid & other acidic compounds causing an acidic pH. Acidic tissues are devoid of free oxygen – & an alkaline solution can provide oxygen to the tissues. Not only can this help prevent or arrest cancer – but it can also relieve many allergies, autism, asthma & other chronic health problems.

FOR ACIDITY:
In the early stages of acidic pH n the body’s tissues – the warning symptoms are mild & include headaches, allergies, skin eruptions & problems, colds, flu & sinus problems. These are sadly usually treated with anti-biotics & medications to suppress the symptoms (like something to lower fever). High temperature is nature’s way of healing us – it speeds up the metabolism, preventing the growth of the invading pathogen & burns it up with heat! It is a wonderful protection & healing method against colds & simple infections, & well as against serious diseases like polio & cancer. The longer we remain acidic the more our illness takes hold – making it vital to prevent & turn around an acidic environment early on. In more advanced acidic pH conditions – one needs to do everything possible to speed up the alkalinity of the cells. Vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, green foods & the minerals Zinc & Selenium are vital.

One of the biggest myths I explore is the view that Diet might work in prevention, to reduce the risk, but it can´t work in correction & cure (?). I study how we are actually developing illnesses all the time, every day of our lives – & that is exactly how good nourishment works – to correct the faults as they start to appear – so you never really notice them. A Good Diet is like having your personal mechanic on site 24/7 to ensure you never breakdown. A crazy theory?

Only recently another Harvard Professor was talking about how we develop illnesses all the time – almost without knowing it – but providing we have the right nutrients in our bodies, we corrected the problem. & that, in a nutshell, is the basis of The Rainbow Diet: A package of differently pigmented & colourful foods that can each do a different job at correcting your illnesses. Theories linking Vit D deficiencies to cancer have been tested & confirmed in more than 200 epidemiological studies & understanding of its physiological basis stems from more than 2500 laboratory studies. The lastest information suggests the serum “sweet spot: for Vitamin D is 50 – 70 ng/ml. Dr Bernard Brom suggests it should be even higher – no less than 90 ng/ml. the best method to test your Vit D levels is a blood serum test – although people seem to differ widely in their response to Vit D supplements. Above 20 ng/ml – you are safe from rickets, above 30 – you will have healthy gums, above 40 – you already receive great cancer benefits. Recent studies suggest adults NEED about 8,000 i.u.’s of oral Vit D3 per day in order to just get serum levels to above 40 ng/ml. Even the conservative Institute of Medicine has concluded that taking up to 10,000 i.u.’s per day poses no risk for adverse effects.

CURCUMINOIDS – THEY DESERVE A SPECIAL MENTION:
In human cancer patients, curcumin doses as high as 3,600 mg a day have been shown to induce the following favorable anti-cancer effects:
•    Paraptosis. A process similar to apoptosis (programmed cell death), curcumin initiates paraptosis only in breast cancer cells, resulting in their rapid destruction.
•    Targeted destruction of cancer-cell mitochondria (leaving mitochondria in healthy cells unaffected).
•    Disruption of the cancer cell cycle. Curcumin can “suspend” cancerous cells in a non-reproductive state within their life cycle, thereby halting their replication.
•    Cancer cell downregulation. Curcumin blocks a group of molecules vital to the process of metastasis. In animal models, it has been shown to reduce metastatic spread to the lungs via this pathway.
•    Arrested stem cell development. Curcumin inhibits growth & renewal of so-called cancer stem cells, aberrant cells now believed to be at the root of many cancers, including breast cancer.

Curcumin has also been shown to effectively combat cervical cancer, a leading cause of cancer death in women in developing nations & a common cancer in this country.29 It is caused largely by infection with the human papilloma virus, or HPV. Curcumin’s anti-inflammatory effects break the link that triggers HPV-induced cancer development. Curcumin further promotes apoptosis of cancer cells within the lining of the uterus & reduces the growth rate of painful but non-malignant uterine leiomyomas (uterine fibroids). Collectively, these effects make curcumin attractive both as a primary chemopreventive agent in women at risk for breast cancer & an adjuvant treatment option in those who have already developed the disease. Curcumin strikes at multiple targets in prostate malignancies, interfering with the spread of cancer cells & regulating inflammatory responses through the master regulator NF-kB.
Curcumin also creates a gastrointestinal environment more favorable to optimal colon health by reducing levels of so-called secondary bile acids, natural secretions that contribute to colon cancer risk. Curcumin also suppresses colon cancer when combined with other polyphenols such as resveratrol.
It inhibits growth & proliferation of human gastric cancer cells in the laboratory & is particularly effective in stopping cancers that have become resistant to multiple drug treatment. Curcumin can prevent gastric cancer cells from progressing through their growth cycle, blocking further tumor growth. Infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a known cause of gastritis, peptic ulcer, & gastric cancer.61 Curcumin blocks growth of H. pylori & reduces the rate at which stomach cells react by turning cancerous. This effect is again related to curcumin’s fundamental ability to block activation of inflammatory NF-kB.

American and Danish scientists have found curcumin increases levels of a protein called CAMP that helps the immune system to fight off bacteria, viruses and fungi the first time they try to attack. CAMP is the only known antimicrobial of its type in humans, researchers say. “This research points to a new avenue for regulating CAMP gene expression,” said Adrian Gombart, an associate professor of biochemistry and biophysics at the Linus Pauling Institute in Corvallis, Ore. “It’s interesting and somewhat surprising that curcumin can do that, and could provide another tool to develop medical therapies,” he added in a release.

CAMP seems to kill a broad range of bacteria including those that cause tuberculosis and also seems to protect against the development of sepsis, a serious body-wide response to infection that patients often acquire while being treated in hospital.
“We’ve shown that [curcumin] has well over 100 mechanisms of damaging cancer cells, particularly colon cancer cells,” Professor Will Stewart from England’s University of Leicester told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
“One of the major mechanisms is affecting the way that they grow blood vessels into themselves.”
