Treasured by Our Ancestors
Throughout history, the strongest primitive cultures from all over the world prized liver above anything.
Among African tribes, Liver was considered to be the most nutritious part of the animal and was often reserved for pregnant women or nursing mothers, as well as for warriors or hunters who needed strength and energy.
Similarly, among Native American tribes, liver was believed to contain the animal’s spirit and treated with great respect. It was often cooked separately from the rest of the meat and was served only to the most important members, such as the chief or the medicine man. In some cases, the liver was even ceremonially offered back to the animal’s spirit as a sign of respect and gratitude.
Fast forward, and this ancient dietary premise holds true. With beef liver containing an unparalleled nutrient profile to fuel mind, body and spirit.

Not a Nutrient Wasted
Feel what it’s like to absorb every single critical vitamin and mineral your body needs to support optimal health and performance.
Our bodies are smart. They have been designed to depend on food sources that align with our ancestral biology.
Meaning, most people today struggle to absorb nutrients from plants and synthetic vitamins – both of which trigger unwanted side effects.
For instance, around 45% of the population lacks the gene necessary to convert Vitamin A from plants (beta-carotene) into the usable form Retinol – which is readily available and highly potent in beef liver.
Like all animal foods, beef liver is highly bioavailable – meaning we can fully absorb and make use of the long list of critical nutrients. Making Beef liver the ‘King’ of multivitamins.

FAQ:
How are your supplements made?
At Ancestral Nourishment we take pride in producing the highest quality organ meat supplements on the market.
We are also completely transparent about how we go about manufacturing our product because we appreciate that our customers want to know exactly where their food comes from and how it is brought from farm to table.
Our organ meats get freshly delivered to our facility directly from the farmer or butchery. They are always packaged in vacuum sealed bags.
They then get put in a freeze drier. Freeze drying is a process whereby the moisture is removed at a low temperature. The organs are not exposed to any heat and light during this process, which ensures that no heat sensitive vitamins and minerals are destroyed.
Freeze drying has been shown to preserve 93-97% of the nutrients in their natural state. This is arguably more efficient than pan frying the meat and eating it fresh.
Once the organ meats are freeze dried, we grind them up and encapsulate them using an encapsulating machine.
The capsules are made out of beef gelatine, and we don’t add any extra ingredients such as emulsifiers, stearates or flow agents.
We are one of the only supplement companies in South Africa to package our product in a glass bottle with a child proof lid.
Our labels and boxes are all designed and manufactured locally in South Africa.
Is Ancestral Nourishment ok for babies/children and how should they dose it?
Although our product is classified as a supplement, it really is just dried food in a capsule.
Fresh organs are perfectly safe and incredible sources of nourishment for children and so are our capsules.
However…
The reason why we manufacture organ meat supplements is for people who hate the taste…
If your children hate the taste too, or if you aren’t able to source or prepare them, go for the capsules. Your children will thank you for it one day!
But…
I might lose out on sales by telling you this, but before you buy more capsules for your children I always recommend that parents try to feed their children fresh organs first.
What about babies? (6 MONTHS +)
We highly recommend fresh liver as a first food for babies.
Capsules are a very convenient way to incorporate organ meats into your child’s diet once they are eating puree’s.
We recommend incorporating one capsule into a puree that will last for a few meals. There is no magic amount.
Make sure the puree still tastes good!
Dosage:
6-12 Months: 1-3 capsules/week
1 year – 3 years: 1 capsule/day
3 – 7 years: 1-2 capsules/day
7 – 12 years: 2-3 capsules/day
There is no magic amount, we have just found this guideline to be practical and proportional to their body weight.
Again, we always recommend that parents feed their children fresh organs first.
Can pregnant women consume freeze dried organ meats?
Although our product is classified as a supplement, it really is just dried food in a capsule, which is just as safe to eat as fresh organ meats.
Gabriella, who you might know from the Ancestral Nourishment social media page had a natural unmedicated home birth in October of 2022. Giving birth to a very healthy and now happy baby girl Rivqah.
During her pregnancy, she took Ancestral Nourishments organ meat capsules daily.
Which option should I go for; liver, kidney or heart?
Beef Liver – Overall health & Fertility
Liver contains a high concentration of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K which work together synergistically to support reproductive health and fetal development.
These nutrients serve as precursors for gene expression, boost immune function and support organ function.
Liver is also a great source of B-Vitamins and Heme Iron which are the building blocks for overall health, energy production and metabolism.
Beef Kidney – Histamine intolerance & Inflammation
Diamine Oxidase is a digestive enzyme contained in beef kidney which helps break down histamine. Thus reducing symptoms of histamine intolerance and inflammation.
Kidney also contains Stearic Acid and Conjugated Linoleic Acid, which are fatty acids that help reduce inflammation, support the immune system and support healthy skin.
Beef Heart – Energy & Athletic Performance
Hunter gatherer tribes believed that if they ate the heart of an animal, they would receive the strength and stamina of the animal.
It turns out that beef heart is a potent source of nutrients that support muscle recovery and athletic performance.
Such as Coenzyme Q10 – plays a crucial role in energy production and supports the function of the mitochondria.
Heart is a natural source of Creatine, which is proven to increase muscular strength and power.
The heart muscle also contains a wide range of amino acids such as L-carnitine, Taurine and Anserine which improve exercise performance by reducing fatigue and muscle soreness.
How should I dose it if I bought all 3 (liver, kidney, heart)?
You made a wise decision. Incorporating all three of these into your lifestyle will ensure optimal nourishment for overall health, immune support and exercise performance.
There are a couple of ways you can go about it, and it essentially comes down to personal preference.
If you really want to, you can take 5 capsules of each per day. We recommend liver in the morning, heart in the afternoon and kidney in the evenings.
If you don’t feel comfortable swallowing 15 capsules per day, we recommend alternating days.
Alternatively you can take 2-3 capsules of each organ meat each day.
Again, this comes down to personal preference. As long as you are taking each organ meat on a consistent basis, you should be getting every nutrient your body needs in order to thrive!
What is the best time of day to take organ meat supplements?
Consistency is key when it comes to yielding the best results in any area of health and self-improvement.
That’s why we recommend taking capsules at a time that is most convenient to you, that you can stick to consistently long term.
However, here are a few recommendations if you want to be optimal.
Liver & Heart are noted to have potent energy boosting effects, which is why we would recommend not taking these in the evening. Rather with breakfast or lunch.
Kidney may be beneficial to take in the evenings. This is when your kidney becomes more active according to your daily bio-rhythm/circadian clock. Based on the principle of like supports like, you might want to consider taking kidney in the evening.
Again, consistency is key and what matters most is that you provide your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive on a daily basis.
How much fresh liver does a daily dose equate to?
Taking 5 capsules per day equates to eating approximately 80g of fresh organs each week.
What are the capsules made from?
The capsules are made from pure bovine gelatin (an animal protein derived from collagen).
