The change of season inevitably puts a little more strain on the immune system so to get you through we have put together our go to list to help you get through it. They are simple, easy and will help you avoid getting sick or at least give you an alternative to taking an antibiotic that will most likely end up doing more harm than good. 

PROBIOTICS – 80% of the immune system is in the gut, which is just one of the reasons probiotics are possibly the most important daily supplements you can take and why antibiotics should be avoided where possible. Your microflora needs to be constantly replenished in order to maintain gut health so supplementing with a good quality probiotic is a very good idea (it is why you will find 25 billion probiotics in 12 strains in Green Vibrance)

WARM LEMON WATER – drink warm water with organic lemon not only will this rehydrate you but help flush your system. In this cold weather it is much easier to drink something warm so it will make sure that you drink enough.

GINGER TEA – drink ginger tea, this gives the immune system a boost, is warming and helps soothe a sore throat.

RAW HONEY – a teaspoon of raw honey does wonders for a sore throat. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and contains a little hydrogen peroxide, which is an antiseptic. The quality of the honey you take makes a big difference. 

TISSUE SALTS – Number 9 tissue salt helps to balance fluids, which helps if you have a runny nose and number 5 helps clear phlegm. It is not important how much you take but rather how regularly, the easiest is to put 20 tablets into some water and sip it throughout the day. Alternatively take 1 or 2 tablets every hour until symptoms improve.

OLBAS OIL – an amazing blend of essential oils that help s to clear the nasal passages and ease a cough. A drop or two onto your collar or pillow is all that is needed. It is also a great alternative to Vicks. Mix Olbas into coconut oil and rub onto your chest (this is great for kids too)

IMMUNE DEFENSE – a potent blend of immunoglobulin’s (antibodies), beta-glucans, gigartina (anti-viral) and larch-aribinogalactans (most commonly known source is Echinacea). This potent formula will prevent and lesson colds and flu symptoms. This is something everyone should keep in their medicine cabinet.

GIGARTINA – proven to inhibit the replication of a virus. Need I say more? Usually you have to let a virus run it’s course but with Gigartina you mobilise the immune system and help your body fight the virus much faster and more efficiently.

VITAMIN D3 – this sunshine vitamin is essential to all components of the immune system. Often high doses when the immune system is low may be all the body needs, especially over the winter months or if you work indoors.

KREBS ZINC – is vital to the immune system, if you are deficient your immune system isn’t going to work at it’s best.  Zinc is a common deficiency but an easy and relatively inexpensive one to rectify. Krebs Zinc is bound to organic acids, which are preferentially absorbed in the gut so Zinc is delivered to cells quickly where it is also needed for new cell growth and energy production.
