Twine & Co Organics: Tallow Face Balm – Frankincense 100ml
Description:
Twine and Co frankincense tallow face balm is the perfect switch from chemical laden moisturisers to a more natural moisturiser.
Our Tallow face balm is highly absorbable with products such as grass fed beef tallow and organic jojoba oil, closely resembling the same composition as the human sebum (skin oil).
We chose tallow because its chemical composition, is the single most compatible ingredient we could rub on our skin and have it actually absorb.
Our sebum (human skin oil) and tallow are both made up of around 55% saturated fats meaning it can be absorbed by our skin without leaving a greasy residue.
Jojoba oil is considered one of the best oils for your face because it is very similar to sebum. Although known as an oil, jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax.
Frankincense helps heal and restore tone to skin cells with it’s astringent properties. This astringent quality also reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and combats the loss of firmness in the cells.
Tallow Face Balm Ingredients:
Grass fed beef tallow and organic jojoba oil.

Tallows Healing Abilities For Eczema
For some reason my last two kids struggled with rashes/hives/eczema/dermatitis and skin problems soon after birth.
My thoughts were that it might have been because of my c-section deliveries and their skin therefore was not coated in good probiotics traveling down the birth canal or me not taking in enough probiotic rich foods before and during pregnancy. Perhaps food allergies through breastfeeding as they have not started solids yet (at 3 months when the eczema started) or immature gut translated into skin rashes.
I already only did 2-3 baths per week (it is suggested to take less baths with dermatitis/eczema), only used water, no soaps, for bathing and used plain aquas creams for after. We had a hypoallergenic laundry liquid as well.
I was through two paediatrician visits, one dermatologist and one allergist. 3 of the 4 doctors prescribed cortisone. The allergy tests (skin prick) came back negative for ALL the major allergens.
We would rub them in with cortisone and would see instant improvements but their skin would only stay clear for 2-3 days before we had to smear them again for 2-3 days till the rash disappeared. My main concern was us slathering these babies in ‘hormones’ (cortisone).
Rebekah (baby 4) grew out of it at 8 months old but Micah was a case for prayer as he was at his worst at 8months old.
When Rebekah, our only daughter and 4th child, was 3 months old her weeping eczema was so BAD I booked a dermatology appointment and started using cortisone cream on her skin(when needed). By the time we moved to George she was 8 months old and it completely disappeared.
I thought she had outgrown it but every time we went to visit family in Cape Town it would return and I had to make peace with the fact that we had to travel around with a pot of cortisone wherever we went. I then attributed it to an allergen (airborne, as we ate exactly the same there as we would have done at home). It was only after Micah, our fifth, was born and his skin presented exactly the same that I put two and two together and realised it had to do with moisture in the air/the humidity.
His eczema was much worse and continued on for much longer. He had some food triggers but when his skin was moisturised we were able to stay away from cortisone 🙌.
I tried about 10 different ointments and balms, he reacted to everything which made his eczema worse!
Up in arms and desperate to find something that works I started to do some research and came upon a post about a natural approach to combat eczema, and dry skin. Beef Tallow!
Within two days of using the tallow cream his skin was 50% better and only continued to improve thereafter. I now ‘balm’ him twice a day and have no need for cortisone or any other ointments.
They say necessity is the mother of all invention, and as the mom of itching kids, I had to delve deep into finding a solution for my babies sake that was sustainable (unlike cortisone), healthy and wholesome.
